We are La Revue de la Montagne. We are a collective of writers, artists, and researchers devoted to contributing to the current renaissance of Marxist analysis. Our members are not of one particular tendency, but we have all agreed to the principles of unity detailed below.
-
We seek to overcome the capitalist mode of production. We oppose this suffocating bourgeois society and struggle to replace it with a communistic society. In order to do so we support the proletarian movement in order to tear asunder the present state of things. However, this does not necessarily mean that we support the “momentary interests” of the proletariat. We are devoted to “the doctrine of the liberation of the proletariat,” Marxism. Communism is the only movement that can offer the working class self-abolition and ascendancy to a higher form of society. "We seek nothing less than the total overcoming of the current order."

Marx and Engels identified bourgeois, reactionary, and “true” socialists as “false friends” of the working class, much as the Communist Left later identified falsifiers, deniers, and modernizers. We oppose all these distortions of the worker's movement. We unflinchingly uphold scientific socialism as the only worldview that can achieve the liberation of the proletariat. We subscribe to the materialist conception of history and oppose all forms of philosophical idealism.

We uphold the truth that the proletariat is not bound to any single nation, rather their interests lie in international class unity, through which they can organize as an independent whole. As capital is not content to remain within its national borders, neither can the movement of the workers. It is not enough to simply combat the capitalists of one's own country, therefore we understand that nationalism is completely antithetical to the interests of the global workers. Just as the forces of capital attack workers of all countries, so shall workers strike at capital globally.

As Communists, we intend to “smash the state machinery.” We recognize that all states have a class character, and bourgeois states serve the purpose of upholding bourgeois society. In our current historical moment, all states are bourgeois. We oppose them as they are weapons the bourgeoisie wields against the working class. As such, we withhold support for any bourgeois state, be it a “democracy” or “dictatorship.” The overcoming of these states can only be achieved with a revolutionary cataclysm. As communists we realize the need to strangle the state with the chains that have enslaved the proletariat for so long. We recognize the inherent connection between the state and the brutality wrought upon the working class, serving only the interests of the Bourgeoisie.
